College Street Elementary is located in rural Middle Tennessee in the city of Manchester. Manchester is located between Nashville and Chattanooga off I-24. The city of Manchester has a population of about 10,000. Manchester has diverse opportunities for employment. Tourism contributes to the town's tax base. The many motels, restaurants, and gas stations are located on the four interstate exits for Manchester. A major employer since the 1950's is Arnold Engineering Development Center, a test faculty operated by the United States Air Force. There are now several manufacturing companies located in an industrial park, and more are being lured to the community by the favorable location for shipping, a mild climate ,and the availability of qualified employees.

College Street Elementary

College Street was established in 1973. It had previously been known as Manchester City School. This school has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools since 1976. It has approximately 400 students. College Street is one of two elementary schools in the Manchester City School system. It has a full-time physical education teacher, music teacher, media specialist, and a preschool which enhance the curriculum for the nineteen kindergarten through sixth grade teachers. The music program offers both band and chorus for fifth and sixth grade students. The school also has a half-time guidance counselor and art teacher. The two computer labs are run by a half time technology coordinator.

All personnel at College Street are considered highly qualified under the No Child Left Behind legislation. Everyone also tries to uphold the beliefs established by the faculty.
